ACMP Ontario Growth Project
The Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) Toronto Chapter has been operational since 2012. In recent years, it has become evident that the area ACMP Toronto serves and the membership it supports is reaching beyond the Greater Toronto Area and its original mandate needs to be changed. The ACMP Toronto Chapter’s vision for 2020 includes the creation of a growth strategy that will better serve, support and enable growth of ACMP membership across Ontario.
While global ACMP experience suggests that we might better meet the needs of this growing membership by changing our boundaries to become ACMP Ontario, the ACMP Toronto Board does not have any preconceived ideas on assumed outcomes. The Board has thus created the ACMP Ontario Growth Project to ensure that the strategy is prioritized and gathers input from change management practitioners and stakeholders across the province.
Given the magnitude of the project, the Board appointed Rich Batchelor, former ACMP Toronto President and chapter founder, to the role of Project Lead for the ACMP Toronto Growth Project with a project team of 12 volunteers from across Ontario.
The project has two phases: first to define recommendations for the future growth strategy and then to implement the agreed recommendations.
Focus on Engagement
Engagement with our membership will be key to the success of this work. Therefore, our chapter activities for 2020 will focus on just that – engagement with you. In the weeks and months ahead, you will be presented with many opportunities to offer your insights into building our chapter for the future. This is a significant change effort that will provide a great engagement and learning opportunity for all of our members, fellow practitioners and stakeholders.
How to Get Involved!
Thank you for your patience during this transition period – and thanks to all of you that are leaning in and supporting this work. We are lucky to have several volunteers on our Growth Team, but we are always looking for more. If you would like to actively participate in this work, please email email@example.com. If you have insights to share and would like to connect with Rich, please feel free to email him directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Recommendation on 2020 Board Election
The ACMP Ontario Growth Project Team recommends canceling the ACMP Toronto Board election for this year (starting June 2020) in order to focus Chapter efforts on a successful transformation to ACMP Ontario.
As a result, current Board members would extend their terms until June 2021. Board members who wish to stand down from their current position may resign, so long as the Board can maintain quorum during this period (a minimum of four individuals in the required roles of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer).
For more information, please see the full recomendations from the ACMP Ontario Growth Project (below). If you object to this approach, please email email@example.com to share your concerns.
The Growth Team has started to conduct the needs analysis and is reaching out to multiple communities. They want to hear from as many practitioners, organizations and other stakeholders as possible to capture their change management needs and how we might best meet them.
Please share your insights by completing our online survey as part of our efforts to better serve your needs and expectations moving forward.
In the coming weeks, we will be hosting several live virtual events. Please check out our Events page for the latest information and to register.
